History: Wiki Link
Appearance: 5'9, slender build, black hair and brown eyes. Prefers a casual style of dressing, often sticking with t-shirts, jeans, a black leather jacket, and boots.
Personality:
The first thing that Jessica Jones will probably tell you about herself is that she is an asshole. In fact, it is a title and a way of life that she accepts with a strange sort of pride. It's evident in her gruff, unapologetic behavior and the way that she just says whatever the hell she wants. Most of the time she doesn't even care about the reactions of those around her but there are a few that she might apologize to later on. Off to the side and out of the earshot of anyone else. But truthfully, she keeps a lot of people at arm's length. Even when she isn't keeping them at arm's length, she isn't always the nicest but those closest to her can see beneath the act to the person underneath.
What's under that hard exterior that she puts forth? Well, believe it or not, there is someone who is vulnerable, in pain and wracked with guilt. The loss of her family at a young age, being taken into a rather unstable and sometimes violent home (all as part of a publicity stunt) and then her time with Kilgrave has left Jessica mentally, and emotionally, scarred. She deals with post-traumatic stress syndrome and survivor's guilt. Or rather, she doesn't really deal with it at all because she doesn't like to talk about the things that happened to her. She would rather drink herself into oblivion or walk away if someone is trying to make her face things.
Either way, she doesn't actually like to talk about the things that happened either. Trish is probably the only person who knows the real story about what happened but that makes sense because Trish is probably the person that Jessica loves most in this world. She has others that she cares about but Trish is definitely her person.
Because even if she is kind of a douchebag at times, Jessica does have a soft spot for people in trouble. This is evident in how she puts herself through the wringer to help Hope Schlottman or later, in Defenders, the Raymond family. It's also in how she helps Malcolm, even after finding out that he has been spying on her due to Kilgrave's powers. It would have been easier for her to hurt him or even avoid him but she went out of her way to get him off the drugs that Kilgrave got him addicted to. It's that same soft spot that brought her back to Matt, Danny, and Luke even after she swore she wasn't going to get tangled up in the mess with The Hand. It's as much to protect New York as anything but also because she feels a sort of kinship to the three men. So much so that Jessica is actually saddened by Matt's "death" when it happens.
But don't expect Jessica to do relationships. It's not just that she was forced to be Kilgrave's lover and pet that makes her that way. That certainly doesn't help because she is still haunted by the idea of being raped again and again by the man but it's also her nature. Even with what she has gone through, sex is relatively easy for Jessica. She took that power and control back, and she wants to keep it. But she is usually the type to have sex and then leave because that is safer to do than relationships. Relationships require being honest, dependable and happy. Jessica really isn't good at those sorts of things. She thought about trying it just once with Luke but obviously, we know how that turned out.
So, yes, Jessica is a complicated asshole but definitely one you want on your side.
What did they do to end up here?: You name it, Jess has probably done it, good or bad. But you can put murder, stealing, and breaking all sorts of laws in her punishment if you want to.
Powers / Abilities: Superhuman Strength, Enhanced Speed and Durability, Regenerative Healing Factor and Flight....though she says it's more jumping and then falling
Inventory: Her clothes, a flask and a camera that she often carries around on her PI jobs.
